If you'e only semiserious about making a difference in honor of this Thursday's 40th annual Earth Day, don't let your eco-friends bully you into petitioning for stricter federal regulations on toxic coal ash. Just join this weekend's Party for the Planet at Miami Metrozoo and watch captive animals play with garbage.

If, however, throwing trash at Bengal tigers isn't exactly your thing, there's always the Miami Goin' Green festival at Bayfront Park this Saturday. Then, after you get your bike back from that earth-friendly valet attendant, head to Peacock Park for the season's first Saturday edition of Bike Miami Days. The free event runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and has everything: bike rentals, yoga tutorials, and a parade. No exotic beasts eating refuse, though.
