Curry Chicken and Gary Cooper

Indochine may have been open for only a year and a half, but in that time this intimate restaurant located near the Miami River has transformed from gourmet bistro to hip cultural haven. In addition to serving tasty, affordable sushi, Thai, and Indonesian dishes, the cozy lounge offers a happy hour, monthly art events, and now a weekly movie night hosted by Carlos Gonzales, a movie critic and Miami Dade College teacher.

“I adore classic movies. Next month we plan on showing some of the great Italian and French films,” says Jacques Ardisson, owner of the exotic-theme bistro. This month’s roster features films from the Thirties, including the screwball classic His Girl Friday, and Alfred Hitchcock’s Sabotage. Tonight diners can enjoy sake, seafood pho, and a screening of A Farewell to Arms. “I mean, who doesn’t like Gary Cooper?” asks the genial proprietor. Films are screened with subtitles so as to not disrupt the dining ambiance.
