Come Into the Garden
Pop Arts power and natures outlandish palette collide during Lichtenstein at Fairchild, which features 10 of the iconic artists monumental sculptures in a lush tropical setting. Today at the Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden, its Poppin Tropical Nights, where Roy Lichtensteins works, blazing with shocking primary colors, combine with vibrant succulents, exotic flowers, and flocks of jewel-like butterflies in a luminous environment.
This year the gardens will look astonishing as we fill the landscape with a spectacular combination of tropical flowers and world class art, says Fairchild executive director Mike Maunder. Its the largest sculptural exhibition of the artists work in a naturalistic setting and will include Lichtenstein favorites, House II and the totemic Art Deco Modern Head, soaring more than 30 feet high. Lichtenstein is best known for art inspired by newspaper ads and comic strips of the Sixties. The exhibit will run through May 31, 2008, with Poppin Tropical Nights taking place each Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m. Tickets cost $20 for adults.
