Cleopatra, Queen of the SoundScape

When moviegoers think of film epics, many think of 1963’s Cleopatra. Starring the incomparable Elizabeth Taylor in the title role, it’s one of the most famous films in American cinema history. Whether it’s because of the star-studded cast, lavish costumes, sheer amount of manpower, or off-screen scandals, Cleopatra is too grand to be contained on the standard movie screen. What better way to present a film of this magnitude than on the New World Center’s 133,200-square-foot SoundScape wall? This Wednesday, Cleopatra will be shown as the first event of the 2014 SoundScape Cinema Series. The screening, part of the Arts in the Parks program, will be presented by the City of Miami Beach free to the public. There’s no better way to take in the grandeur that is Cleopatra. Taylor would be proud.
