On any given Friday night, singles across the Magic City find themselves at Blockbuster, perusing the aisles for new releases, classics, and foreign films with enough captions to fill a book. And plenty of these same people would never be caught dead going to the theater alone. To us, a quiet room with dim lights and a sick sound system seems like the perfect place to be solo. But we’re weird. So this Friday, call up a pal and head to The Standard (40 Island Ave., Miami Beach) for the latest installment of the LoveLife Film Series, created to meld art and movies with cool folks who can appreciate it. At 8 p.m., catch four short films hosted by Brooklyn-based visual artist Collier Schorr. Your short attention span will be grateful for these three- to ten-minute pieces, and if your friend bails, you won’t have to sit through an entire 90-minute flick by yourself.
