According to the Centers for Disease Control and the Florida Department of Health, last year new cases of HIV infection jumped at the highest rate in the nation in Miami-Dade and Broward. Both counties rank among the nations top five in HIV infection rates. Since 1995, the Center for Positive Connections has given South Florida residents living with HIV and AIDS educational, emotional, and social support, as well as an array of holistic services, that affected the lives of nearly 10,000 people last year alone.
We provide clients alternative therapies such as massage, acupuncture, reiki, hypnosis, and individual and group counseling as well, says the centers Jim Konschnik. Tonight at 6:00, Art Fusion Galleries is hosting an Art for AIDS fundraiser for the organization. A percentage of the sales from the Interlocking Sequences exhibit, featuring more than 1000 pieces from the works of 30 artists, will be donated to the center. A pre-reception with live music kicks off at 6:00 at Sheba Restaurant (4029 N. Miami Ave.) next door. Call 305-573-5730, or visit www.artfusiongallery.com.
