Bringing it Back
Some people would say vinyl is a dying musical medium, but those people would never be true music fans. Everyone knows real records are the coolest little pieces of plastic a music geek can buy, offering a rich, warm sound unparalleled by MP3s and all other digital mediums. You’ve never really heard your favorite song until you’ve heard it crackle under a needle, man.
We geeks are not alone, or at least we’ve banded together in mutual admiration of the #waxlyfe. We made our own holiday, and this year, Sweat Records (5505 NE Second Ave., Miami) will celebrate Record Store Day with Sweatstock #5, featuring Eric Burdon, the voice of beloved ’70s English rock band the Animals. Besides the guy who sang “House of the Rising Sun,” there will be two stages offering full rockin’ lineups all day. Just make sure you get there early, because all the RSD-exclusive releases and merchandise will be the first things to go.
Doors open at 9 a.m., and admission to the store is free. Good luck leaving empty-handed, freaks. Call 786-693-9309 or visit sweatrecordsmiami.com.
