Belly Up to the Word Bar

If Allen Ginsberg had to attend a conference in Miami on how to really use finger cymbals, he might be a little confused about where to find a venue to listen to poetry and chant his mantra. So just in case Ginsberg’s ghost ever haunts the fruit markets at Bayside, looking for graybeard, do him a favor — point him toward the Wallflower Gallery.

Considered by many to be a taste of the old Greenwich Village, the Wallflower Gallery is a multimedia arts and community facility that supports local artists in all their creative endeavors. This Tuesday at 8 p.m., find out for yourself when you check out Words from the Womb — a female spoken-word night featuring Zarifa and Heather. As with all wizards, last names don’t apply, and these two lay down some of the best slam poetry you’ll ever hear. Tickets cost $5.
Tue., Oct. 27, 8 p.m., 2009
