It might seem a little tough to get into the Christmas spirit when it’s 80 degrees and oh-so-sunny outside. But if you’re lacking in cheer this year, just head to Coconut Grove’s Candy Cane Village, where Santa’s little helpers will beat the Scrooge right out of you with metaphorical fists full of holiday cheer.
This Friday, Peacock Park (2820 McFarlane Rd., Coconut Grove) will be temporarily transformed into a winter wonderland — complete with snow, “ice” skating, carnival rides, holiday tunes, and caramel apples. With eight food truck options, revelers will be able to nosh on kettle corn, corn dogs, chicken kebabs, and hot apple cider. Beginning at 8:30 p.m., snow will fall from four towers, so don’t forget your Uggs. Giant inflatable candies, gingerbread men, and nutcrackers will be hanging around, as will the big man himself. As Will Ferrell’s character in Elf says: “SANTA!!!”
Hey, it’s a step up from Santa’s Enchanted Forest. So break out that Christmas sweater, ’cause this is as close to the North Pole as you’re bound to get.
Fri., Dec. 21, 10 a.m.-5 p.m., 2012
