Professional basketball has changed so much since its inception. The uniform has evolved from booty shorts to culottes, the players are in the local sections of their local papers more, and a big-mouthed fan just might catch a championship ring in his eye if he yells out the wrong thing. Times are a-changin in the NBA, but b-ball realists can take comfort in street ball to avoid the abomination that (sometimes) is pro ball. But the sideline chants of a few of the neighborhood kids may not be enough for you; you want your sloppy dunks greeted by the roars of hundreds. If thats the case, the Hoop It Up 3 on 3 basketball tournament is for you.
Teams of three to five people go up against other local ballers in games that last either for 30 minutes, or until a team scores twenty points. You might not win, but at least you can say you were in the game. The tournament is Saturday, May 19, and today at Gulfstream Park.
Sat., May 19; Sun., May 20
