Graffiti and basketball are exciting things to do in theory, but they often require you to stand for extended periods of time. Worse, they sometimes involve running and/or hand-eye coordination. Good thing that Keep It Classic is hosting a one-night-only graffiti and basketball film double feature at O Cinema (90 NW 29th St., Wynwood), a movie theater with couches where you can lie down if sitting proves too difficult.
The bill opens at 7:30 p.m. with Bomb It 2 (sadly, not subtitled Aerosol Boogaloo), Jon Reiss’ documentary sequel about street art movements around the world. In the film, Reiss goes to Singapore, Jakarta, Perth, Chicago, and even Palestinian refugee camps on the West Bank — again, something much easier to watch someone else do while you have a mouthful of cookies, rather than to do it yourself.
And at 9:30 p.m., the program continues with Bobbito Garcia and Kevin Couliau’s Doin’ It in the Park, a documentary about pick-up basketball in New York City. Complex magazine calls it “one of the greatest sports documentaries of all time,” but it will be enough for lazy people to know that watching the film will save them the trouble of schlepping to the 180 basketball courts at which the filmmakers shot.
Wed., May 29, 7:30 & 9:30 p.m., 2013
