Everyone's a critic :-/ Burlesque feels like baseball teams sometimes....folks can get so...INVOLVED..lol...I kinda look at it as a real insiders sport though, wouldn't you folks agree? It's the artists themselves with the strongest opinions on the matter of performances and performers. But in reality, we gotta throw the love out to everyone, and be glad the interest is alive enough to garner attention. There's so many flavors, I kind of wonder if we all realize how far and wide they sweep. It's a good thing. I'm not a burlesque dancer, but I have been privy to a front row seat and stageside company to enough shows that I am appreciative of the people that do this for everyone. I've met some great people working alongside the ladies in Hellion, which did spawn the start of Ginger Bardot's burlesquing (and she's since really taken off herself, and has been a frequent performer at the 'hill) and my own personal introduction to viewing many more artists there and after...and I think it's cool and surprising that they won a mention this year. So... right on, ladies!

churchills is the birthplace of everything awesome. and sometimes not so awesome.

Churchills and Hellion was a great mix I think. There's a lot of interest in classical burlesque and Vaudeville these days and Hellion was definately something "Other" which is probaby why Miami voted it Best. It was dark and unpredictable and you could pretty much say, 'this can only happen at Churchills and nowhere else.' I havent seen their shows happening there in a while and I am kind of dissappointed that it seems like they've moved on. Does this mean they'll be performing again?

Contrary to popular belief, Hellion is on our way back to Churchill's. Negotiations are underway. We have popped in and out from time to time. I am proud to say that this was the most creative and fun venture I ever participated in. It is a 'best' collaboration for me. AND I am honored that it was the 'best' last year for Miami too. This is slightly disappointing Miami News times since this troupe is no longer even working as a troupe????? Nor are they performing at Churchills. Fail.
