Envy is a bitch ROBERT. Why couldn\'t you just keep your advertising out of our win. You work in any dump that pays you and let any idiot use your name so you can pad your schedule. Our winning proves that Quality beats Quantity every time. You claim you are not here to step on people\'s toes but then you have to put your advertising within this site to ride on the coat tails of a win you did not get.
I admit that we were not expecting to win 2 years in a row but then again I also didn\'t expect you would post on here with your advertising.

Just goes to prove how low people can stoop to attain recognition.

Come on now. We all know winning BEST OF means nothing as far as who has good karaoke shows. Our Place in Miami Lakes also won this and you're lucky if you even get to sing there. It's Ernie singing all night and mainly just music being played with NO karaoke.

And the fact that we at Kara-O-King turned down Tom's NFL before you took it says something if we only take "any dumps". I wish we could all just get along and not fight. Karake Miami is good at getting your people to vote for you. And that's an accomplishment. Be happy about that and let the other stuff go.

First I will admit that I was highly upset that somebody would take advantage of this site to advertise a competing company that had nothing to do with the winning show. That being said I apologize to those who work for them and the bars they work at since they should not be responsible for somebody else crossing the line.
I think that everyone in this market brings their own style and way of running things and don\\\\\\\'t think anyone needs to be criticized for doing things their own way.
Tom\\\\\\\'s NFL was until about a year ago the longest running Karaoke night in South Florida. Every KJ in this market passed through there at one point or another. We took over in Feb 2004 and ran a consistently successful show there until Dec 2006. At that time management felt that keeping the same working KJ who was no longer associated with us was better then keeping us around and a few months later they ended up closing the place down and selling the entire building (Hotel & Bar).
A few months ago I heard the place had reopened under new owners and sent them info but was told that they had hired another company to run the show so I backed off. Then I got the call from the competitor that it was open and to go for it and so I contacted them and I guided them into moving the show to the correct day of the week and time frame that had been a success for us for the almost 3 years we ran the show (and for those who came before us).
Nostalgia for Wed night at Tom\\\\\\\'s with Karaoke Miami played a big part in getting the people back and with the help of Red Calibre\\\\\\\'s Salin and Mike Vice, we have enjoyed going back to a show we loved working for so many years. All our old friends, some new ones and even Pierre (former Mgr) comes by.

actually, Hooligans was the longest running show. but now that it is closed I don't know which one is the longest running.

Hey George I assume I know which George this is. I meant Longest running on the same night. Hooligan's went from Wed to Tue to Tue & Sat to just Sat to Tue & Sat again and back to Sat Only so they had Karaoke longer but not on a consistent night. Scully's may be the longest now but I have to check the history books for that one.

I think its funny, these people dont do their research when theyre doing the best of miami. I've been to all of you guys show and each of you bring something different to the party. I remember there was some cuban dude there that did it but he was a dick.

I have just one word to sum this all up... RIDICULOUS!

This right here is the reason I decided to start my own company... who cares who has the most, the best the longest running gigs. In the end does it really mean anything?

Be in it for the the people who love what you do... only then will you be a winner.

I've decided to drop out of the karaoke business for a little while while I pursue another career, but I will always love karaoke and I'm sure you'll see me around.

I just wish you'd all end your childish bickering and work together... then maybe Miami really will have the best karaoke.

This all seems to be a lot of fighting for nothing. I know all these people for the most part and I think it should cease immediately. First lets accept that Tom's NFL was chosen and be happy for them and for the KJ which is currently Karaoke Miami (from what I read above).
In my opinion Robert crossed the line of common courtesy by advertising on this page. It comes across as desperate and misleading cause to the average reader it will just confuse things and in the end if you are not the one working there you should just stay out of it and run your shows.
Karaoke Miami should have shown more restraint in responding so harshly and this also comes across in a negative way. However I can see where emotions can get the best of you and you react before thinking.
Ste7en just comes across as a bitter individual who seem to have some resentment towards Karaoke Miami and from what I read Ernie at Our Place. It makes no sense to drag in a past winner to an argument that is about here and now.
Karaoke Miami I guess tried to save face and apologize and redirect the subject to history of the location and all they wrote up there, but then George comes in and clarifies a point that I feel nobody cares about either way.
I think that Roly summed it up best in that all this childish bickering needs to stop.
I have been in this area for years and have been to some of everyone's shows at one point or another. Everyone does things different and has their own style. There is competition in all lines of business but there are also ethics and standards one should follow. Robert you should not have advertised on this site as you cannot stand in McDonalds and promote Whoppers. Had the tables been turned would you have been OK with the same thing being done to you, I don't think so.
Karaoke Miami you should have contacted Robert privately and not made your feelings known to the general public.
Well those are my 2 cents on this and if I were New Times I would have the entire commentary removed from this category.
