Best Cupcakes Miami 2008 - Misha's Cupcakes
Admittedly, Miami is a bit behind the cupcake craze that swept New York and Los Angeles, oh, six or seven years ago. The market was ripe for a clever cupcake entrepreneur to step forward and put the city on the miniature dessert map. That person was Misha Kuryla-Gomez, purveyor of Misha's Cupcakes. Offering ooey-gooey deliciousness in bite-size portions, the stay-at-home mom used her mother's longtime recipe to create her own yummy success. Now her fare is sold at Books & Books Café, Town Kitchen and Bar, and the Van Dyke News Store, among other locations. Her Dadeland Mall kiosk, Lix by Misha, is conveniently parked near the Coach store, so husbands can soothe their sweet teeth outside while wives crank that credit card at the cash register. Misha's red velvet is the most talked-about flavor, but our favorite is cookies and cream. Or is it coconut? Or Kahlúa? They're all yummy. Mini cupcakes cost a buck; larger ones go for $2.25. Try the scones too!
Cupcakes might be fresh, but Misha's customer service leaves a stale taste. She charged a friend of mine 100.00 for a plastic circular base that broke which cost her 5.00. After he spent a bunch of money on a cake and cupcakes for a bridal shower. Ridiculous.
These cupcakes are awesome! I normally don't like cupcakes but they looked appealing so I took a bite.... I couldn't put it down!
I have tried Misha's and to be honest there is nothing great about them....Tried cupcakes nouveau at a birthday party and it blows Misha's cupcakes out of the water.....
I tried Misha's cupcakes. The coconut was OK, the chocolate was good, but the Red Velvet was AWFUL. Only cream cheese should go on red velvet cupcakes. Try The Sugar Spot. She delivers! www.ilovethesugarspot.com
uh....her cupcakes are weird. There's no buttercream: it's all grainy, chocolate frosting. THe vanilla is vanilla cake with white chocolate chip, the chocolate is chocolate chocolate chip, and that isn't red velvet at all--vanilla cake with chocolate chips and red dye. Bake some real cupcakes, Misha!
Misha's cupcakes are good, Buttercream on Sunset is ok. Misha will blow them away when she opens a storefront. Babycakes in Dolphin Mall, waaaay too dry, stiff icing and super sloppy. My personal favorite is Little Miss Cupcake Bake Shop. I had them at a friends house for a birthday. Sooooo delicious! They deliver the cupcake to you for FREE! Check them out at http://littlemisscupcakebakesh...
sorry but buttercream's on sunset drive just east of shops at sunset has won my heart with their red velvet and cream cheese cupcakes. i tried lix by misha's version and wasn't terribly impressed. buttercream's red velvet cupcake is a perfect handful and super moist. not even the two giggling retards that work the register can spoil this treat.
