We drove to the Pit on November 17 and found the portable grill on the parking lot and the cooks cooking ribs, chicken and corn on the cob. The Pit is gettting a kitchen face lift! new equipment and they are definately cleaning up. The owners apologized for not having a complete menu, and they told us they will be up and running on December 6th with the full menu and some new items like sirloin steak, churrascos and bake potatoes and that sounded good to us. Their effort for having at least RIBS and CHICKEN for us to eat was well appreciated otherwise we would had to drive back to Key Largo with an empty stomack or stop in Shorty's for their ribs and there is a big difference in ribs, Shorty's ribs have no taste of BBQ unless your put BBQ sauce the Pit ribs do not need for you to put BBQ sauce at all, they taste smokey and with theold traditional BBQ taste that comes from their wood burning BBQ pit. My recommendation to all those that enjoy good "ALL AMERICAN BBQ" to drive to the PIT, in my book THE PIT RIBS and CHICKEN are the best in Florida! and now that the place is getting cleaned up, new restrooms and beef added to the menu, this place is the place to eat and experience the "GOOD OLD DAYS" dining out doors!!!

Didnt like this place, seemed to be a BBQ restaurant with an identity crisis, playing Salsa music and a menu where the majority of food wasnt BBQ!

If your a truee BBQ fan, I wouldnt go here, not too much authentic BBQ food, seems more towards salsa music and cuban food.
