There are rampant rumors that the creators of Glee are considering remaking the cult movie The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Now theres a scary thought. Isnt it enough of an affront to Frank N. Furter tranny fans everywhere that the teen musical sitcom already had a Rocky Horror episode? Whats that? You liked it? Bully for you, but youre missing the point. You dont watch Rocky Horror as much as you live it.
Although the musical is campy and trampy, audience participation is as much a part of film as the actions of onscreen characters. The folks at the Gusman Center understand as much. Thats why at 9 p.m. this Saturday, theyll screen the film in celebration of its 35-year anniversary. A troupe of actors will lead the audience involvement. Before the flick begins, things will get started with a virgin sacrifice of Rocky Horror first-timers, and complimentary drinks will get you in the mood to sing Time Warp, Sweet Transvestite, and Touch-a, Touch-a, Touch-a, Touch Me. There will also be an afterparty at Grand Central, so wear your best pair of fishnets.
