Graffiti artist Aeon and his friends at the Tree Top Collective understand, in a real way, the value of movement as multiple sclerosis began affecting Aeon's ability to walk. The good news is that his buddies, a community of artists, are determined to help him regain his mobility and raise awareness about MS through arts and fun at tonight's Monster Splash Benefit.
Multiple Sclerosis is a degenerative disorder which causes the body's immune system to attack its own central nervous system. Though there is no cure, there are some treatments. Aeon uses a combination of western medicine and alternative treatments, including meditation, to deal with the symptoms of MS. After being diagnosed five years ago, he gradually moved from walking to using a cane, to a walker, to a wheelchair. Physical therapy has helped him become more mobile in the past, so the proceeds from this fundraiser will help provide him with care that will hopefully get him back on his feet.
