The NBA Joins Chris Bosh in Threatening to Sue the Borscht Film Festival
The folks at Borscht Corp. are having a tough couple weeks.
First, they received a cease-and-desist letter from Chris Bosh, the subject of artist Bleeding Palm's trippy homage Adventures of Christopher Bosh in the Multiverse, just weeks before tonight's planned Bosh Film Festival. Then, earlier this week, they experienced trouble with online ticketing for their Saturday night Borscht Film Festival at the Arsht Center.
And now, the NBA's piling on too. According to Facebook, Borscht received yet another cease-and-desist letter from the organization, this one claiming "unauthorized use by the Borscht Corporation ... of intellectual property belonging to the National Basketball Association ... and the Miami Heat."
Borscht, in typical "Y U MAD BRO" style, posted a scan of the letter to Facebook, saying "I think all of these people are confused about the concept of the multiverse! All life is real."
The Bosh Film Festival, scheduled for tonight, is a free film screening event inviting local filmmakers to show their work at the Miami Art Museum. Adventures... is the festival's centerpiece, a short film by local artist Ronnie Rivera, aka Bleeding Palm, that we describe in this week's issue of New Times as "the radioactive love child of The Jetsons and TV Funhouse," in which Chris Bosh is a space prince from another dimension fighting to save the world and win basketball games at the same time.
