The City of Miami Beach is throwing a beach party, and you're invited! This Saturday, the Miami Beach Gay Pride will flood South Beach with tens of thousands of revelers watching the parade, dancing to the music, and celebrating how great it is to be gay. Although last years inaugural edition had some planning glitches, it was a huge success in spite of itself mainly because Pride takes over Ocean Drive. Of course, half the crowd will be tourists who wander into the festivities and think every day in South Beach is filled with guys in tight T-shirts and covered in glitter.
Pride is free and open to the public, thanks to hefty political support from Mayor Matti Bower, who is, apparently, a big fan of the gays. The parade along Ocean Drive starts at noon, led by gay rights crusader and Iraq War veteran Lt. Dan Choi and actress Sharon Gless (of Burn Notice and Queer as Folk fame). The tents will stay open until 8 p.m.
