Perhaps the real breakout film of this year's Oscars was The Cove, the documentary that stars Coconut Grove resident and former Miami Seaquarium trainer Ric O'Barry's quest to shut down dolphin killing in Japan.

Now the film is being turned into an Animal Planet TV series set to air this fall.

The 70-year-old O'Barry will star in the series, currently titled Dolphin Warriors, which is being produced by his son, Lincoln. Two episodes have already been shot. And if you haven't seen The Cove yet, you'll get a chance when Animal Planet airs it this summer.

The show will be a perfect complement to Animal Planet's hit Whale Wars, but let's hope it will give South Park fewer opportunities to spoof it.

New Times' Natalie O'Neill last year profiled O'Barry and his lifelong pursuit.
