William and Louisa Day have a good life. They’re married to each other. They love each other. They live a relatively stress-free life in the suburbs, in a house with a large yard and a dog. They have no children to annoy them. But Louisa is beginning to act strangely. She hoards mail. She disappears in the middle of parties the couple throws, hiding away in a junk room, peering through a window onto the happy scene outside. And she asks William to build a new house for them to share. What gives? Ben Greenman has the answer. Greenman is an editor at The New Yorker and has produced several collections of stories, as well as the novels Superworse and Please Step Back. His latest, The Slippage, tells the story of the Days, and he’s bringing it to Books & Books (265 Aragon Ave., Coral Gables) Thursday at 8 p.m.
