Studio 54 DJ Nicky Siano to Play Real Roller Disco Tonight at Grand Central
People used to laugh at those who said disco would come back. Well, haters, who's laughing now?
Rewind the clock and experience the golden age of boogie with a very-special edition of Lundi Dis Moi Oui!, Grand Central's weekly old-school disco and house extravaganza. Whether you're a Dis Moi regular or a dance floor virgin, this is some ground-shattering news.
The groovy hosts are bringing extra hot stuff, baby, this evening, with a first-time-ever real roller disco, featuring sounds by none other than Nicky Siano, the original resident DJ of Studio 54. Yes, that Studio 54. And it's all at no cover to you.
Are these people insane, you ask? Nay. They're nothing short of brilliant.
Grand Central will be totally transformed into the roller rink of your dreams, complete with disco balls and the highest-level of entertainment.
"Nicky barely comes out," said co-organizer Stephany Torres. "He does a set once in a blue moon."
Whether or not you've got the skates, you do not want to miss this opportunity to hear disco the way it was meant to be played. Of course, those of you without wheels are welcome to dance the night away on the dance floor, snug right in the middle of the skate circle, just like old times.
"Is there any place outside of the burbs, outside of a 30-minute trek at least, just to go skating?" Torres asked. "Then roller disco? No, that doesn't happen ever."
But it will happen tonight. All groovy cats and dolls are encouraged to come in their best leisure suits, hot pants, scarves, beads, and bell bottoms. The best dressed will compete for a chance to win a free bottle of champagne and a pair of VIP tickets to two upcoming Grand Central events.
Again, this is all at no charge to you, and everyone 18 years and older is welcome to party. Unforunately, due to liability issues, roller skates will not be available for rental, but if you've got wheels at all, they wanna see you on the rink.
So, what are you waiting for? The party starts at 11 p.m., so you've still got time to hit the thrift stores and find that perfect pair of skates. It's time to start planning that outfit, too. Champagne is at stake!
