Maybe its been years since you kicked back and smoked a bowl while jamming to Bob Marleys greatest hits. Or maybe it was yesterday. Either way, we all need a temporary reprieve from the loud thumping of everyday neuroses, obsessive fixations on lifes little details, and relationships that break apart only to come back together.
Theres a new play that explores these cloudy moments when nothing and everything matters. Jack Goes Boating is about a reggae-loving, drug-ingesting man who must navigate the murky waters of dating, relationships, and swimming lessons. Ultimately, the production is a meditation on lifes randomness. And through Jacks trials and tribulations, we see how we become our own worst enemies via self-doubt, imagination, and maybe too much weed. Catch the opening performance this Friday at 8 p.m. at the New Theatre Tickets cost $40, and the play runs through October 24. Call 305-443-5909 or visit new-theatre.org.
