Speedin’ Granny Says Go

Donna Blake is the Speedin’ Granny. At 60 years old, she’s active in the local car show competition circuit, entering events and winning trophies from South Dade to Broward. You can catch Granny in her 1968 Barracuda convertible, or at least you can try. She’s one of the organizers behind this Sunday’s second annual Open Car & Truck Show. It’s totally free — no admission or registration fees — and all cars and trucks are welcome, so you can show off your baby. And oh yeah, you can bring your actual kids too. Hot rods, customs, classics, and muscle cars will be a few of the rides on display. Awards go to the top four automobiles. Plus an autographed 1972 Dolphins football will get raffled off; local fans recall ’twas the undefeated season (and a very good year). Free snow cones and cotton candy for the youngsters, a bounce house, and musical entertainment make this event family- and pocket-friendly. Speedin’ Granny has been working hard, promoting the party on car show websites and handing out flyers at events all over town. So don’t let her down.
