When Florida Marlins left fielder Chris Coghlan was called up in May 2009, he blasted his way onto the scene using only his big bat and heavy nut sack. In his first full season, Coghlan mauled opposing pitchers with extreme prejudice, batting .321 with a .390 on-base percentage, while knocking in 47 RBIs and nine home runs on his way to winning the National League Rookie of the Year.
This year, however, its been a totally different story: Coghlan entered May 2010 with a limp .184 batting average and spent the anniversary of his call-up on the bench. Meanwhile, the Marlins remain mired in a team-wide offensive downturn that has them near the bottom of the NL East. Lets hope Coghlan and the Fish can finally slay the slump this Tuesday when they host the lowly Atlanta Braves.
