Considering the average age of a New World Symphony fellow is 26, you’d think it would be easy to attract a young, hip crowd to its concerts. But that hasn’t been the case, so NWS marketing director Lorenzo Lebrija is going to tempt you with free drinks. At tonight’s Symphony with a Twist, enjoy complimentary “lite bites” and libations during the open bar happy hour prior to the performance. “We want to reach out to new audiences who may not be familiar with the symphony,” says Lebrija. “Tonight’s concert features very accessible, popular music,” including Ravel’s Bolero, which will sound familiar to anyone who has ever watched an Olympic ice skating event, and Rimski Korsakov’s Capriccio Espagnol, conducted by Joana Carneiro. Terrence Wilson, a talented (and hot!) young pianist will also perform as the guest soloist in Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue. The party begins at 6:00, followed by the concert at 8:00 at the Lincoln Theatre. Tickets cost $35. Call 305-673-3331, or visit www.newworldtickets.com.
