This past Monday afternoon, Daily News 11 published an article titled "Jim Carrey Explains Why He’s Moving to Hialeah, Florida." In it, the website goes on to quote the actor as saying, “I’m just tired of the L.A. lifestyle and the fake people... I’ve been to Hialeah a few times over the years and the people there are real… I’m just looking for a change in life, and I think I’ve found that in Hialeah.”

You might have done a double-take and looked at your calendar. No, it's not April 1; it's April 11, you quickly realize. This can't possibly be an April Fools' joke. Ah, but it's not. 

Much like the Onion (and Miami's version, the Plantain), Daily News 11 is all about the jokes, 24/7. As its website states: "Daily News 11 is a fantasy news site. Most articles on dailynews11.com are satire or pure fantasy." 

But it seems the site's witty piece of news traveled quickly (such is the magical way of the internet) and reached the comedian himself. Carrey took to Twitter to set the record straight. To his more than 15 million followers, he tweeted: 
It's not, however, that Carrey doesn't have love for Miami. After all, the actor filmed his 1994 classic, Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, in the Magic City.

HIALEAH, Florida – In a big surprise to everyone in Los Angeles, Hollywood actor Jim Carrey reveals in a new interview that he is moving to the Hialeah, Florida area. He tells the magazine that he is “tired of the L.A. lifestyle” and is looking for a big change in life.

“I’m just tired of the L.A. lifestyle and the fake people, honestly, and I feel like, at this point in my life, I’d rather just live in a place full of real, genuine people. I’ve been to Hialeah a few times over the years and the people there are real… they’re genuine, and yeah every community has its problems but the people there are good, decent people and they care about their community. Those are the things I find most important in deciding where to live,” Carrey told the magazine.
