Miami Pop-Up Pool in Union Square Delights, Baffles New Yorkers
The Greater Miami Convention and Visitors Bureau brought a taste of the Magic City (or, at least, a taste of the prevailing Magic City stereotype) to the Big Apple yesterday afternoon, setting up a temporary swimming pool in the middle of New York City's Union Square.
The reactions were mixed.
Some New Yorkers seemed grateful to have a few easy-on-the-eyes beach babes to ogle as they made their way to Starbucks or Pinkberry or whatever the hell chain is trendy in New York these days. Others felt the ban on actual swimming was a bit harsh: "It's just cruel." (Organizers, to be fair, say the city wouldn't let them let others swim in the pool).
See photos and some visitors' reactions after the jump.

Dancing With the Stars' pro dance partner Karina Smirnoff is all over Miami lately. First, she walks the runway at Fashion Week Swim, and now she's headlining this publicity fest.
Twitter user @NeshasAgenda snapped this sepia-toned Instagram photo of lounging And hey, that guy's in the pool! We thought that was against the rules, or something.
@tanyamarie13 says the guys in yellow shorts were doing a "thrust-y dance." Okay, fine, that part of Miami is actually pretty accurate.
So will this ploy actually bring New Yorkers to Miami? @Juli_Gold and her buddies seem ready to hop the next plane.
Others, meanwhile, just looked a little weirded out by the whole thing. Also: Is the pool leaking?
