Miami Free Times: Duchess Party, Wynwood Walls, and Downtown Yoga

This week, we cheated a little. In amongst the free yoga, free art and free parties is one event we actually think you should shell out dough to attend. Intrigued? Read on.

Monday: Show off the resilience of your liver by going out on a Monday night. The party Duchess at the Mondrian Hotel's Sunset Lounge is free. But lucky for your liver, the drinks are not.

Tuesday: If you're like us, your body feels like it's permanently hunched over in the I'm-still-typing-on-a-keyboard position. Work out the kinks at free yoga at Bayfront Park.

Wednesday: As the story goes, upon finding Rod Stewart in his recording studio, record producer Joe Meek put his fingers in his ears and screamed until Stewart left the building. That's our kind of guy. A sort-of anti-Phil Spector, Meek was rock's first independent record producer in Britain although he was tone deaf and could play no instruments. This Wednesday, an assembly of local artists will present "Tribute: A Summoning," based on the life and death of Meek. The performance, choreographed by Ana Mendez, is described by artist/organizer Ricardo Guerrero as "a progression of movements with flurries of dance." No, it's not free but it could be the best $10 you've spent in a while.

Upcoming Events

Thursday: There's no cost to enjoy the gigantic, colorful street murals of Shepard Fairey, Jim Drain, and Barry McGee at the Wynwood Walls exhibit, sitting at NW 2nd Ave. and 27th St.

Friday: One night a week, you can dip into The Wolfsonian

from 6 until 9 p.m. for free. This Friday, you can see the work of the

granddaddies of graphic design in the "Rhythyms of Modern Life"

exhibit, featuring British color linocut artists from the early 20th
