Surviving Swim Week is all about knowing how to conquer the elements, so as day three rolled along, we thought we were ready: hydrated, well rested and decked out in breathable cotton. This is survival of the fittest, after all. By the last show of the evening, Cia.Marítima, stragglers were stumbling in, half intoxicated, half exhausted.

Still, despite the humidity factor and the show delays, things were running like a well-oiled machine. And as writers rushed into The Restaurant Michael Schwartz for a quick bite between shows and Real Housewives cut the pleebs in line, we got it: This hurried feeling is part of the adrenaline rush that's typical of Fashion Week in Miami. And as New Yorkers and non-natives learn to love Miami time, we're starting to realize we're all in this five-day rat race together.

Mara Hoffman

The most anticipated show of the week, Mara Hoffman never seems to disappoint. Sure, she's been dubbed a one-trick pony by few, but her Resort collections carry one resonating element: The wow factor.

This year Hoffman strayed--ever so slightly--from her trademark prints for a taste of India. Think: elephants, cartoon snakes, intricate hair adornments, bindi'd foreheads and those sassy dresses that we've grown to love. In some cases swim tops seemed to float on the models; the looks were that effortless, yet so put together.

Standout looks: The underwire bustier top with the lattice high-waisted bottom. So many unexpected touches! Also the macramé one piece in neon coral: va va voom!

We could do without: The garlands print. Though we appreciate the attempt at pushing the envelope, if it ain't broke, why fix it?

The Vibe: Glamorous globetrotters ready for the beach.

Cute Factor: The accessories and added little touches, like weekender beach bags, and tassles on heels.

CM Cia.Marítima

Cia.Marítima's growing as a designer, and it shows; the collection was well thought out, yet bold, a welcome change from the standard swim week fodder.

Her trademark print for the Resort 2014 collection, a mix between chevron and stripes, was the real standout of the evening. The models worked simple, wavy beach hair, as they rocked neons, pinks and blues, as well as '70s-style bell sleeved-dresses and monokinis. Name just about any current trend, and we spotted it on this runway.

Standout looks: The blue low back printed mini dress with waist rouging. We see every woman in Miami--any woman anywhere, really-- rocking that look for a night out.

We could do without: The disco soundtrack and the leopard and pink one piece: way too much going on.

The Vibe: Modern woman meets disco queen

Cute Factor:The jewelry. It was a nice contrast against the collection; the bib necklaces and bracelets were so modern and space age-ish.
