The Miami Heat’s season is turning into that moment in Fight Club when one member of Project Mayhem tries to insult Jared Leto’s character, Angel Face: “You are too f***ing... blond!” You can try to find something wrong with this team, but you’ll probably just come away stammering a halfhearted criticism. The Big Three continue their excellence, and Ray Allen’s acquisition looks to be a stroke of genius. This Saturday, our beloved Heat will close out a six-game home stand that began against the much despised, yet unfortunately improved, New York Knicks, followed by a parade of NBA cannon fodder. Saturday’s game is against the Western Conference’s middling Minnesota Timberwolves, who unfortunately haven’t reached the playoffs since the 2003-04 season, when Kevin Garnett was still the team’s star. There is some good news for the opposition, and it’s the return of Minnesota’s jaw-droppingly talented Spanish point guard Ricky Rubio. After he blew out an ACL midway through an unbelievable rookie season, his imminent return should bolster the spirits of all fans of the sport.
