What began as a benefit concert in Ithaca, New York, to raise funds for the fight against AIDS has found a new home in Miami. The Virginia Key Grassroots Festival is in its fourth year and getting bigger with time. Some of this year’s notable acts include ChocQuibTown, the Del McCoury Band, Donna the Buffalo, Elizabeth Cook, and Driftwood. There will be more than 40 bands performing throughout the weekend on four main stages.
Aside from the lineup of musical performers, there will be a Kids Village and a Sustainability Fair & Expo for your entertainment. And for your appetite, a Beer Garden Vinyl Lounge and Grassroots World Café will be available. Take the scenic drive to Historic Virginia Key Beach Park (4020 Virginia Beach Dr., Miami) this weekend. The festival runs Thursday through Sunday. Ticket prices range from $30 for a single day to $120 for four days. Call 786-409-5261 or visit virginiakeygrassroots.com.
