In almost every kindergarten class, there’s a kid who eats glue, a kid who shows everyone his genitalia, and a kid who, instead of playing with toys, catalogues and interprets their arrangement. That kid is the future curator, and if she’s lucky, she’ll be half as talented as Maria Lind, who will speak this Saturday at MoCA.

Lind directs the Center for Curatorial Studies at Bard College but has also helmed the International Artist Studio Program in Stockholm, Sweden, as well as the Kunstverein München, a progressive artist space in Munich, Germany. Lind is also a recent recipient of the Walter Hopps Award for Curatorial Achievement, which recognizes rising stars in the field. (As far as we know, there’s no award for rising stars in glue-eating.)

The lecture begins at 2 p.m. and is free with museum admission.
Sat., Aug. 22, 2 p.m., 2009
