Coconut Grove is not the sort of place that throws county fairs, where prize livestock gets weighed in and carnies send children on high-velocity amusement rides. Instead, the neighborhood has quirky haps such as a drunken bed race and the King Mango Strut parody parade, not to mention the Bahamian-themed Goombay Festival. But the most popular event, now in its 47th year, is the Coconut Grove Arts Festival, where thousands of fine-art lovers take to a mile-long stretch that begins on McFarlane Road and runs along South Bayshore Drive. From the nearly 1,200 artists who applied to be included in the festival, only 360 were selected. See their paintings, photography, and metalwork this weekend.
