Gorge on Gourmet

You know how you can tell you’re in a relationship? It takes you longer to pick a place to dine out than to actually sit down and eat. “What do you feel like eating?” “Oh, I don’t know. How ’bout you?” “I chose last time.” “No, you didn’t. I did.” And on and on until the prospect of picking up some Mickey D’s seems like the only way to avoid sleeping on the couch. In Coral Gables, selecting restaurants is even more of a headache, with options outnumbering parking spots. But just when you’re really pining for the single life, Taste of the Gables appears to sate your fickle palate and save your relationship. More than 30 of the Gables’ upper-crust eateries and chefs will hold court in the rotunda at the Westin Colonnade Hotel beginning at 6 p.m. Thursday. Among them will be BGR the Burger Joint, Ale House, Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse, Il Grissino, La Cofradia, Morton’s, Norman’s 180, Pardo’s Peruvian Cuisine, Randazzo’s Little Italy, Red Koi Thai & Sushi Lounge, and Seasons 52. You won’t get a full meal at any one of the stands, but you’ll be able to sample from all and maybe find a place you and your significant other can agree on. The Taste of the Gables is a prelude to Gables Restaurant Week, starting Monday and running through June 19.
Thu., June 2, 6 p.m., 2011
