Remember the days before the real estate bubble burst? Our economy was at peace. The citizens walked arm in arm, in harmony with nature, with each other, and with themselves. The skies were blue and cloudless, sunny but not oppressively so, and whenever a rainbow appeared (which was not uncommon), we all joined hands and sang a joyful chorus of “Kumbaya.” Then the housing market tanked, and people became real dicks to each other — especially when it came to the land they called their own. We’re still dreaming of happier times as we claw our way out of these dark days, which is what makes now the perfect time for New Theatre to perform Property Line. It’s a tale of two star-crossed friends who own neighboring waterfront homes and whose relationship has devolved into a feud over a mere 15 feet of grassy space. In the time of the rainbows, this kind of thing would seem silly. But these days, the very notion makes us bloodthirsty.
Thursdays-Saturdays, 8 p.m.; Sundays, 1 & 5:30 p.m. Starts: March 23. Continues through April 8, 2012
