While the rest of the nation is trudging through a ho-hum January, Miami's penchant for the weird and wild rarely dips below 100. Thankfully, between the viral sorority videos and overturned shoe trucks, this city keeps us focused on the important stuff — like nonstop entertainment. This week, we've got movies, grand openings, and art deco delights, all wonderfully free of charge.

  • Blue Velvet at Lincoln Garage: Dive into the David Lynch Movie Series with his 1986 neo-noir mystery, and view a prefeature showing of Blood, Sweat and Trees: The Story of Sawetoa documentary about how the Asheninka community of Saweto, an indigenous village in the Amazon, has been victimized by illegal logging on its property.

  • Q&A with Fusion and the 19 Million Project at Univision Noticias: Hear from journalists from Fusion who were recently in Rome for the 19 Million Project, a summit sponsored by Fusion and Univision involving journalists, coders, designers, digital strategists, and human rights advocates who united to draw attention to the refugee crisis consuming Europe.

  • The Queen at SoundScape: Catch Helen Mirren in her Oscar-winning performance as Elizabeth II.
  • Drunken Crafts: Doodles with DaveL at the Wynwood Yard: Learn watercolor and doodles from local street artist DaveL, and sample tasty cocktails from the Thyme bartenders.
