It's not easy having eyes all over the scene, being around to take in all the wild visuals at all the worthwhile places in the city. There are, however, those parties and gallery openings where a fortunate photographer can point and shoot. Every week, in collaboration with WorldRedEye, New Times will bring you a solid recap of all the experiences you may have missed around Miami in previous days. It's impossible to be everywhere, but hey, we can try to keep our Eye on Miami.
October 6, Ocean Drive Magazine & Versace
Ocean Drive magazine and Versace along with an elite host committee comprised of South Florida male influencers including, Jared Shapiro, DJ Irie, David Pulley, Adam Rosenfeld, David Arditi, and Keith Menin hosted an exclusive event in celebration of Versace’s Men’s Fall/Winter 2015 collection drawing 75 VIP tastemakers to the Design District boutique. Guests were treated to a custom fashion presentation showcasing looks from the Fall/Winter 2015 Men’s collection while savoring passed canapés and sipping wine and cocktails courtesy ofDuke Spirits and Hundred Acre wine group. The hosts concluded their evening at a private dinner in their honor hosted by Versace at MC Kitchenwhere they enjoyed a specially curated four course dinner, wine, and cocktails.
October 6, Faena Rose Celebrates Cindy Crawford
In celebration of world renowned supermodel Cindy Crawford’s new book, Becoming, Faena Rose hosted a lunch at Casa Claridge’s Faena Miami Beach followed by a talk and book signing by Cindy Crawford. The celebration was introduced by Cindy Crawford’s friend Lara Shriftman, and the talk was moderated by Pablo De Ritis, Executive Vice President of Faena Rose, an exclusive arts and culture-based membership community comprised of international entrepreneurs, industry leaders, artists, and innovators from diverse backgrounds. The book is a compilation of 50 photos and 50 essays in celebration of Cindy’s 50th birthday.
October 8, Armand de Brignac
Armand de Brignac Champagne introduced Miami to its full collection of luxury champagnes, including their two newest varietals, Blanc de Noirs and Demi Sec, at a private dinner at Seaspice. Guests were ushered to the restaurant’s intimate private dining room The Modern Garden and greeted with a glass of the collection’s signature cuvee, Armand de Brignac Brut Gold, along with passed canapes. After the guests were seated for their three course dinner, where Armand de Brignac CMO Bernadette Knight spoke of the background and history of the Armand de Brignac collection, as well as an overview of the tastings for the evening. She was joined by Jason Siedel, Regional Director of the brand. Guests were then treated to an exclusive tasting of the newest release from the collection, Armand de Brignac Blanc de Noirs, an incredibly limited varietal that makes it U.S. debut this month.
October 8, Cirque Eloize iD at Arsht
South Florida theatergoers were in for a thrill with the return of Cirque Éloize iD to the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County. After a successful run in 2011 seen by more than 40,000 people, director Jeannot Painchaud and his talented cast once again wowed the audience with a high-energy production blending circus, street dance and hip-hop. Set against an urban backdrop, iD features a cast of 15 acrobats and performers, and incorporates innovative multimedia elements, as well as a rock and electronica inspired soundtrack created by composers Jean-Phi Goncalves and Alex McMahon. In Cirque Éloize iD, acrobatics are combined with the energy of hip-hop and urban dance – giving a fresh and high-octane spin to modern circus.
October 6, Sliderz Grand Opening
Sliderz MG, Inc., a new Miami-based restaurant group, celebrated the opening of the first of seven Sliderz Restaurants introducing a fresh “fast casual” dining concept. Sliderz is the brainchild of Miami restaurant titan Buzzy Sklar and Richard Booth, who were joined by an exceptional group of friends and Miami notables. The flagship location at 123rd St. & Biscayne Blvd hosted a VIP Grand Opening where guests dined on “Sliderz & Sides” off the eclectic made-to-order “American-tapas” style menu created by consulting Chef Josh Marcus. The upscale family-friendly eatery features ultra-modern edgy interior making it the hippest new restaurant in North Miami.
October 9, Grandmaster Flash at Basement
Any day you swing by Basement Miami, you’ll never be disappointed by the time you leave. DJ Grandmaster Flash was at the decks on Friday for the iii Points after party bash that kept the good vibes flowing.
October 9, LIV on Friday
Another Friday night meant another epic night at LIV. Party goers including Lance Armstrong got their weekend started off right by letting loose the the sounds of DJ Whoo Kid until the early morning hours.
October 9-11, iii Points
III Points Music, Art & Technology Festival was back again this year with their three-day living installation aimed at shedding light on Miami’s talented local acts, vendors, artists and art collectives, thinkers, dreamers, doers. The fest took over the art district of Miami for three days of BBQ’s, panels, showcases, demos, lectures, gallery shows, and a fully immersive 4 stage main-grounds. Over 20,000 attendees had the opportunity to catching the sounds of XXYYXX, Bonobo, Panda Bear, Sango, Shlomo, Stephen Shaw, Toro y Moi, Taylor McFerrin, and more as well as installations from Jason Boogie AV8, TM sisters, Aileen Quintana, and Veronica Gessa to name a few.
October 11, LIV on Sunday
We have one word for LIV on Sunday last night: EPIC. Floyd Mayweather, French Montana, Fabolous, and Mario all came out to let loose and show Miami a perfect end to the weekend.
