There’s nothing funny about an explosion. And for that matter, there’s nothing funny about earthquakes either. Well, unless it’s a Comedy Explosion. In that case, laughter is OK, even encouraged. But that’s the only exception to the rule. So when comedian Earthquake joins fellow funnymen Arnez J., Rickey Smiley, J. Anthony Brown, Don “DC” Curry, and Marvin Dixon onstage at the James L. Knight Center (400 SE Second Ave, Miami) this Saturday at 8 p.m. for this year’s Comedy Explosion, be prepared to laugh until your friggin’ head explodes. “On this particular show, you have all of the top-name comedians,” Comedy Explosion promoter Sherry McFadden says. “Any one of these comedians can headline a show.” She’s right. Rickey Smiley, for example, is headlining a gig in Texas the night before Comedy Explosion in Miami. The following night, he’s off to Oklahoma City for the Rickey and Friends Comedy Tour. He also stars in his own sitcom, The Rickey Smiley Show, on the TV One network. Homie is one of the busiest dudes in comedy. During a recent interview on The Steve Harvey Morning Show, Smiley opened up about the series. “I’m real excited,” Smiley said. “It’s like a mix between The Cosby Show and Martin.” That’s a hell of a mix.
