Dicey Laughs

Andrew Dice Clay will never forget the year 1990. It’s when he sold out Madison Square Garden two nights in a row — a feat that hasn’t been repeated by any comic since. These days, however, the former household name is fighting to get back into the comedy game. It started in 2007 with his VH1 celeb-reality show Dice: Undisputed, which lasted a mere seven episodes. (Hey, we said it was a fight, not a cakewalk.) Often labeled misogynistic, racist, and homophobic — all of which contributed to his blacklisting and fall from the comedy scene — the self-proclaimed “Rocky of Comedy” is taking the boxing metaphor seriously. This Wednesday at 8:30 p.m., he’ll duke out his personal battles, with the Miami Improv stage as his ring. He’ll riff on his divorce, lightning-quick remarriage to a former female wrestler, the hurdles of fatherhood, and his begrudging acceptance of middle age.
Wed., Nov. 23, 8:30 p.m., 2011
