Dance Fever

Thanks to the writers’ strike, the availability of fresh episodes of your favorite scripted shows is nil. But the bounty of reality shows across the dial can appease even the most discerning couch potato, whether you’re into business, beauty, or just basic BS. For all you aspiring twinkle-toes, there’s the phenomenon that is Dancing with the Stars. Apparently the amount of dance lovers in America is enormous. More than 20 million people tuned into the show each week to watch a Spice Girl, a billionaire, and a Cheetah Girl (among others) face off in hip-hop, salsa, and ballroom routines. So of course the folks behind the show put their cash cow on the road, and now Dancing with the Stars: The Tour is hitting the BankAtlantic Center.

Crowd favorites Wayne Newton, Joey Lawrence, Cheryl Burke, Mark Ballas, and Drew Lachey will shine onstage with sequined costumes and toothy smiles. So although you won’t be able to check out Floyd “Money” Mayweather’s rumba or get a replay of Marie Osmond’s soap opera-worthy fainting spell, tonight at 7:30 you will get your money’s worth. Tickets start at $52.25 and are available through Visit
Wed., Jan. 23, 7:30 p.m., 2008
