Blind Date: Last year the New Theatre scored an incredible coup when it commissioned Nilo Cruz's surprise Pulitzer winner Anna in the Tropics. This year lightning may have struck a second time as the New Theatre has delivered another masterpiece of a play. Mario Diament's stunning, brilliant world premiere tracks five seemingly unconnected people in Buenos Aires. Their series of conversations reveals a tapestry of love lost and found, romantic obsession, quantum physics, and wry humor that pops up at the most unexpected moments. The production features a top-flight acting ensemble. Through April 4. New Theatre, 4120 Laguna St., Coral Gables. 305-443-5909.
Boston Marriage: David Mamet's tale of two Victorian-era lesbians and their romantic intrigues mixes elaborate language and vivid obscenities to considerable comic effect. But the production misreads Mamet's scabrous, black-hearted critique of feminist hypocrisy as straight-ahead comedy. The result is a stylish and light burlesque that's charming, safe, and wrong. Mamet comes not to praise lesbian feminism but to bury it. Through March 20. Trap Door Theatre at the Black Box Theatre, Miami Dade College North Campus, Building #5, 11380 NW 27th Ave. 305-237-1438.
Fiddler on the Roof: In a small Russian village in 1905, a humble dairyman struggles to maintain his family's way of life in a rapidly changing world. Through April 11. Actor's Playhouse at the Miracle Theatre, 280 Miracle Mile, Coral Gables. 305-444-9293.
Halpern & Johnson: Two married men -- one gruff and sarcastic, one reserved -- forge an unlikely friendship under trying circumstances. Through April 4. Coconut Grove Playhouse, 3500 Main Hwy., Coconut Grove. 305-442-4000.
Iago: Reviewed in this issue.
Riff Raff: In this play written by Laurence Fishburne, two Brooklyn hoodlums struggle with the violent aftermath of a drug deal gone sour and confront the bleakness of their futures. Through March 21. Liberty Square Community Center, 6304 NW Fourteenth Ave. 305-751-4043.
