Through his radically wholesome standup, his role as the lovable Dr. Huxtable in The Cosby Show, and, of course, his sweet-as-puddin’ Jell-O pimping, Bill Cosby has chuckled his way deep into the psyche of the past two generations of Americans. A well-rounded family man, the comic has always drawn inspiration from his childhood memories and experience as a husband and father. He’s full of wisdom such as, “Always end the name of your child with a vowel, so that when you yell, the name will carry.” Though the Cos is coming up on his 75th birthday, he hasn’t slowed one bit. Recently he has received lots of attention, both positive and negative, for his criticism of black youth and their parents, calling on them to “hold [themselves] to higher standards.” But he’s been spreading more than judgments. He continues to bring his unique brand of stand-up comedy to venues across the country, including a stop Thursday at Seminole Hard Rock. In a promo for his current tour, he says, “Don’t consider yourself too hip to see me.” So show him just how unhip you are by donning your most over-the-top Cosby sweater.
