President's Day weekend is approaching and there's no shortage of mischief to be had in the city. Swamp Stomp, Coconut Grove Arts Festival, Miami International Boat Show -- competition is fierce.
And now you can add vintage motorcycles and pin-up babes to the agenda.
Old Soul Young Blood, a Miami-based company dedicated to resurrecting old school thrills and bike culture of yesteryear, is throwing the first annual Wynwood Vintage Motorcycle Festival. Sponsored by Wood Tavern, the crew's weekly hangout spot, the event will host live music, food and drink, a pin-up beauty pageant, a skate ramp, and of course, a classic motorcycle competition.
"We did it on purpose. Not only to bring more people to the event, but to bring more awareness to the vintage motorcycle community," Juan Rosal of OSYB told New Times of the bold decision to host the event during one of the busiest party weekends of the year.

"We all have a passion for the vintage stuff so it was pretty easy for us to go from there. It all started in a shed, we were building motorcycles..." Rosal said of how OSYB came to be.
For them, this isn't a hobby, it's a way of life. The boys were in the process of building their bikes when they happened upon Wood Tavern and decided it was going to be their spot. Now, they host a vintage bike meet up every Thursday night where what started as eight bikes now attracts close to 80.
From customizing bikes to reviving to the aesthetic of simpler times, the boys are excited to introduce Miami to a side of wild it hasn't yet had a chance to embrace. Recently returning from a vintage motorcycle show in Dania Beach, the crew from OSYB had the chance to talk bikes with Billy Joel when he stopped by their tent, where he mentioned a possible stop at the festival. "He's into the whole scene, so who knows, you might just see him," Rosal said.

Naturally, the boys and their friends at Wood wanted to extend their love for the classics, so they're going all out. Wood will have a pop-up bar and a stage built to showcase four decade-appropriate bands: The Riot Act, Slim Bucket, Milo Antics, and Skinny Jimmy and the Stingrays. A custom built skate ramp will be provided by Jason Ranft of Jay Ramps, a pin-up beauty pageant judged by world-renowned pin-up model Renata Bresciani, including a live art exhibition in which some of Wynwood's finest local talent will use six Bell Custom 500 bike helmets, distributed during the festival, as their canvas. Everyone's builds and garage treasures will be showcased throughout the day, including mopeds and hot rods. The main event: a five-category trophy and prize contest for the creme de la creme of the festival's bikes: Best Bobber, Best Cafe Racer, Best Garage Build, Judges' Choice, and Best Vintage/Oldest Motorcycle.

"It's about community, the people inspired by the art and what they can do with the build of their motorcycles...If they can't make it in the morning, it's cool. We're going to be there 'til one in the morning anyway," Rosal said.
