Atari Can’t Compare to This is one of those thriving Miami-based web companies you might never have heard of, but millions around the world know it well. That’s the power of niche content in a global market, and the brains behind the site have successfully represented and monetized urban gaming culture. They know that in 2009, hip-hop and gaming go together like a shot and a beer. And you can have both, plus award-winning pizza, at Community Vibes IV. The party is totally free, and more than $5,000 worth of prizes, such as Xbox 360 Elites and PlayStation 3s, will be raffled off. DJ Sharpsound is set to spin, and Crazy Hood hero Garcia will rock the mike, as will Miami’s own hip-hop Voltron, ¡Mayday! “We're reaching out to the growing female gaming population as well as the local college scene,” says Gamertag staff member Peterocc. “We’re expecting people from all over the country. Miami is where the site was born, and we'll always be representing the 305. That's why we’re so happy about Community Vibes IV — unity is the key to success.” The event will take place from 3 to 10 p.m. at Ecco Lounge, a 4,500-square-foot Italian resto-lounge in downtown Miami.
Sat., Feb. 21, 3-10 p.m., 2009
