It all started Monday afternoon when television writer and producer Ryan Murphy, who had been on a Twitter hiatus for almost two months, tweeted five simple words and a logo.
"AMERICAN HORROR STORY SEASON FOUR:" with a photo of a carnival-inspired font reading "Freak Show" was all fans needed to get even more excited about the upcoming season of the FX horror-drama.
Reports about the theme for season four surfaced when writer Douglas Petrie told the world via podcast of a certain carnie premise. However, yesterday's news regarding where exactly that haunted carnival will be rooted promised the tantalizing next-door location of Jupiter, Florida.

When asked during a panel interview if the season would be "carnival" themed, The Hollywood Reporter states that Petrie responded, "Very roughly, that's the idea." Less than a week later, Murphy takes to Twitter and confirms the subtitle, and Entertainment Weekly breaks the news that a horror story is coming to Florida.
According to EW, season four of the greatest horror show the modern era has ever seen will be set 1950s Jupiter with plenty of returning familiar faces. Jessica Lange (duh) will reprise her utterly-fabulous role as star, this time portraying a "German ex-pat who is managing one of the last freak shows in the U.S." At her side, a trusty gang signaling the continuation of Kathy Bates, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Angela Bassett, and Frances Conroy. Fan favorites Emma Roberts and Denis O'Hare are also in talks to return.
American Horror Story: Freak Show will follow Lange and her freaks as they do whatever it takes to keep their show in business. We're hoping that involves plenty of gruesome and gritty acts (and more face-time for Evan Peters). We're also hoping the rumors of this being Lange's final season with AHS are just a garish lie.
Murphy originally teased about the fourth season to EW back in January by saying, "If you look historically what happened in the year 1950, there's some more clues in that year. It's a period piece. We try and do the opposite of what we've done before. Jessica Lange has already started practicing her German accent so I'm very excited!"
Though nothing has been confirmed regarding the series filming on location in Jupiter, last season's Coven was shot in New Orleans, so chances are Murphy and his film crew could be taking over South Florida.
Maybe Murphy and his posse will want to add some colorful backdrops and take a drive down to Miami to film around the Wynwood area. Either way, we sense a road trip to Jupiter is in order when AHS commences filming.
American Horror Story: Freak Show is scheduled to debut in October of this year.
