Coconut Grove is home to many types of hippie: the Birkenstock'd, tie-dyed Rusted Root enthusiast; the sunburnt boomer in Bermuda shorts; the dreadlocked, Cheetos-fingered white boy; and the sleeping-in-a-rowboat Rip Van Winkle. But who does peace-loving better than Hare Krishnas, those constantly smiling Grovites? Take some time this weekend to get educated on Indian culture beyond Bollywood's Shahrukh Khan by bringing yourself and all of your chakras to the Coconut Grove Krishna Fest at the Hare Krishna Cultural Center.

The festival, which runs this Thursday through Sunday, will showcase the sounds, smells, and tastes of the Krishnas' Hindu culture. So if you're into step, you'll dig the bhangra. And if you're a lacto-vegetarian, you'll gobble up the food like Shiva taking out his consorts. Come for the grub; stay for the parade Sunday. Learn some astrology outside of Walter Mercado, and get a little info about the International Society for Krishna Consciousness. ISKCON say what?
