The idea of mechanized agents created to perform our humanoid desires -- whether that be screwing on the tops of jars in a factory or taking over the world using a preprogrammed army -- has long fascinated mankind. Even Greek mythology toyed with the idea of statues springing to life for righteous revenge. Whether you grew up loving Voltron and Transformers or were terrified by the likes of Frankenstein and the pleasant-faced drones in Will Smiths version of Asimovs I, Robot, theres no denying the basic truth: Robots friggin rock. It is in this spirit that the creative tattoo artists of OchoPlacas present their latest exhibit, I Heart Robots.
Tattoo shop owner and artist José Carrera came up with the futuristic concept, and 40 local artists will showcase their innovative visions of mans mechanical counterparts. See it at the opening reception tonight at 8:00 -- after this, viewings will be open to the public by appointment only. And besides, at this evenings shindig therell be complimentary admission, Sonnema Vodka cocktails, and Vitamin Energy drinks. Sweet.
