A-List Altruism

DJ Irie is one of Miami’s most talked-about musical sons and turntable masters. Busy building a Magic City empire, popping bottles with A-listers, and spinning for the Heat, this DJ do-gooder also sees fit to spread the wealth. So he gave his name to the Irie Foundation, working to improve the lives of South Florida youths and increase graduation rates through educational and extracurricular opportunities. For the eighth year in a row, the organization is hosting Irie Weekend, a star-studded golf-centric celebration to benefit his pet project. This three-day party geared toward deep-pocketed philanthropists is a prime opportunity to mix, mingle, and swing like a champ with celebs such as Jamie Foxx, various Heat players, and Reggie Bush. Anyone feeling extra charitable can continue the weekend’s festivities with a Jamie Foxx-headlining concert at Mansion (1235 Washington Ave., Miami Beach), a kids’ bowling tournament at Lucky Strike (1691 Michigan Ave., Miami Beach), and a closing bash at Arkadia (4441 Collins Ave., Miami Beach). With all-star sponsors that include Chambord Vodka, Verizon, and New Era, Irie is all about big names, so if you’re into rubbing elbows with the big-wigs, this weekend is for you.
