With the trade deadline on the horizon, the Miami Marlins take on the Washington Nationals this Monday for the first of three games at Marlins Park (501 Marlins Way, Miami). While the Marlins’ success this season has been a nice story around the MLB, not many observers believe the team can actually compete for a playoff birth. Still, this series may prove pivotal in helping the front office decide what to do, in terms of unloading talent or adding some depth for the long haul.
The Nationals are solid from top to bottom and should be a tough opponent for the Fish. Maybe the Marlins will prove ’em all wrong; maybe you’ll just spend a couple of hours in air conditioning at the peak of the South Florida summer, all at one of the cheapest ballparks in the nation. Either way, you’re a winner.
